  Out now on the legendary Mungo's Hifi label SCOTCH BONNET from Glasgow is a heavy EP by
the Jahtari Riddim Force who team up here with Unity soundsystem veteran Mikey Murka.
The release comes on a beautiful double 10", one produced by old-school-digi-dubbist disrupt and
the other one by the Jahtarian tape delay master Rootah. Both have a go on wrapping up Mikey's
vocal niceness with their own unique readings of electrocuted Dub. All that fits so well and
seamlessly together like Ganja in a pipe so be prepared for loads of echo action, lit up with some
of the most soulful and tongue-in-cheek 80ies dancehall vibes around. Only killahs, no fillahs - so
better get those limited pressings before they go!

The disrupt vinyl lifts off with "Empress", a straight roots smasher between Channel One and
outer space. Mikey gives a big demonstration of his unerring feel for big hit tunes here and these
vocal lines are bound to haunt you for weeks to come. With a killah toasting break and an
undying melody lick by our vintage synth wizards Bo Marley this track is pure fiyah.

"Second Hand Man" on B follows directly in the veine of our favourite mid-80ies Unity Casio-
smashas in the tradtion of Mikey's previous Jahtari hit "Sensi Addict". Fun synth action optimized
for smoking along in the dub version.
       
             

The heavy Rootah wax attacks from a very different side: these riddims were born somewhere in
the circuits of his overheated tube tape delays, analogue filterbanks and wood-framed drum-
machines. On "She Gone" Mikey aims straight for that infinite-loop button in your ear tract again.
With bobbing head and shaking butt you'll enter the completely different dub version where you
can still hear how that funky drum pattern set the machines on fire.

"Get It Already" is maybe the deepest tune of the pack. The hypnotic riddim is set to
"endlessness" right from the start. Mikey Murka is at his best here, a sure master of delivering
vocals with just the right mix of soulful deepness and winking melancholy. Make sure to have a
lighter ready when the tune warps into dub mode.
