CLAUSE FOUR
Tom Giles, aka Clause Four, has been raised on finest brown ale at the Tyne docks
in Newcastle, northeast England, and got into DJing at the age of 16. After moving
to Oxford he
started a regular night in 1999 called Def Ape, along with Alex
Robinson, who runs One Handed Music (home to Bullion, Paul White, etc) and Tom
Wilson, who, oddly, is now a TV & print journalist in Romania. The night lasted
for 4 years, with guests including 100% Dynamite,
Quantic, Malcolm Catto & Soul
Destroyers.
After settling in London in 2004 Tom finally started producing own tracks.
Soon
becoming the master of the shuffled beat and pumping bass compression, he
wildy
clashed seemingly incompatible styles like HipHop, P-Funk and Disco with
Reggae,
Dub and Dubstep. This mix soon developed into a deadly and completely unique
sound
that
saw an excellent first vinyl release
on the now sought after DC Recordings
12"-EP
"Blue On Blue" in
2007. His dynamite "Whiskey Bar" riddim, from the long
gone
Jahmiga-7", continued to wreak havoc on sound systems worldwide in 2009.
Tom is currently swinging the soldering iron to build an 8 track analog studio.
More goodness to come soon, so stay tuned!
