SOOM T & disrupt Asia tour, Jan / Feb 2010

____all you need: decks, a mic
_________and a lazergun

______flyer from Hong Kong

End of January Soom T and disrupt packed the Jahtari gear (see left) and set sail for the hitherto unknown
waters of China and Japan. The course was laid down to Shanghai (Shelter, Uprooted Sunshine Sound),
Hongkong (Good Vibes Sound System) and a 2 week trip on the Japanese islands with the Part2Style
ninjas and the Rudiments sound-ronin.

This journey turned out to be one of the nicest, funniest and most inspiring experiences ever - especially
Japan and its sound system culture, along with the periphery of record labels, clubs and amazing vinyl
stores left us with an open mouth. The intense mix of a life in an ultra-urban SciFi metropolis environment,
but deep spiritualism and traditions at the same time, is simply uttlery unique - and that reflects in the
music coming out of Japan. To get the picture just check the brilliant "Leipzig Dub" Jahtari-remix-LP by
Killer Bong over HERE.

Sadly most of this dynamite ouput is still unknown here in the West, due to the language / scripture
barrier. That's why we'll definitely contribute our little share to spread the sounds from the future
(Japan is 8 hours ahead of Germany, after all) in our parts. There are a lot of brillitant vocalists with
whom we're cooking up a lot of goodness now: Ja-Ge and MaL from Part2Style (see video below), Rumi
(who rocked Club Asia with us), beatboxing genius Sakuray Kyo, Original Kose (killing it in Osaka),
Kiki Hitomi of Black Chow, who did "Wonderland" for our "Jahtarian Dubbers Vol. 2" compilation, and, of
course, Chacha and the whole pioneering crew from Shelter in Shanghai (check the "Bass Shelter EP").
There's a small Asia special in the online section of The Wire mag now, with some tracks for free download,
so check THAT. For some more in-depth ranting about the ties between Japanese, Jamaican and Western
music read the fascinating story of the track "Ringo Oiwake" in our magazine section HERE.

But time for some flashy multimedia gimmicks now - feel free to rummage through the heaps of pics and
videos below.
