Virtual Haircut: 3D-Audio

This "Virtual Haircut"-clip on youtube is one great example for an insane use of binaural audio. For
those of you who've never heard about it before (like me): the term just means you'd not only
hear LEFT and RIGHT, like normal Stereo, but you'll also have a notion of FRONT and BACK. It
can be achieved with a special recording technique using a dummy head. The whole technobabble is
all explained in detail HERE.

If you just want some plain and
creepy fun simply roll a big one,
grab some good headphones (you
won't hear the effect with
speakers) and click on the left or
over HERE. The story of this small
and funny audio play is a visit at a
barbershop where you'll get a
good and proper haircut in
3D- audio.

The sound of getting a plastic bag
pulled over your head will make
you jump out of the chair already.
And the dangerous sounds of a
pair of scissors cutting in high-
speed close to your ears might
clrawl your skin. But the final
treatment with a cutting machine
mowing up your neck and across
your skull is plain adrenaline and
goosebumbs.

Actually, this technique offers some wicked opportunities for using it in Dub tracks. Imagine some
delays blasting from left back over your head to right front... Some research should start there
now. If you have any ideas please feel free to mail us!
