infiltrate unsuspecting dancefloors
worldwide: sensi specialist Kenny Knots, special agent Speng Bond

The second bomb in our Maffi double release is THIS deadly disc
charged with raw sound system vibes by the man called Mr.
Williamz, the Dancehall Hobby EP. With scorchers like
"Sit Down
Steady", the must-have "Where The Man Come From" and the
anthem "Dancehall Hobby"
it becomes clear very quickly that this
man's favourite hobby ain't stamp collecting...
Like the "Tann Up Solid EP" this one also comes with a genius
cover from Ellen G. / MyLord - a tribute to the veterans of sound
system culture! Boomshot record - not to
be missed! |

Over the last year we've been heavily getting into building our
own
hardware gear, there are actually a number of really nice
DIY projects available in the net now. While soldering them
together is a great hobby to some it's certainly not for
everybody.
Since by now we know the in's and out's of a few of them we're
thinking about offering an assembly service for some projects:
we can order the parts and build a machine for you on demand!
One of THOSE brilliant SID synthesizers is assembled and ready for
sale if someone's interested. More of these and other cool machines
to come soon! Read all about it HERE!
You can also get some used hardware from our studio HERE. |

After our old dinosaur of an online shop was running smoothly in
one form or another since 2004 (!) we finally managed to get a
new one going - R.I.P. old-school! Bigup to onkit for that ancient
piece of code, it was our bread and butter (or should we say
'skins and tobacco') from the start! You can check out the new
version HERE!

The tape heads of the Jahtari echo machines have been finetuned,
the reverb modules are rewired,
the bass implant is set beyond the
health limit
and now the third
episode of our ongoing
series called
"Jahtarian
Dubbers" is ready
to rock your walkman for a long time
to come.
This epic LP is crammed with nuff fresh goodness by Mikey Murka,
Soom T, John Frum, Ranking Levy and Maffi, Rootah, disrupt, Mungo's
Hifi with Jim Nastics,
El
Fata and Tapes, new Jahtari member Monkey
Marc - and even
contains
a remix of a Dub Syndicate classic with
Lee Perry on the mic. Don't miss out on this
gem of a record and
have
a wee listen over HERE! |

Within the last year we got heavily into building our own music
machines, and definitely the coolest project was to complete one
of
the genius MIDIBOX SID synthesizers, built around the wicked
Commodore C64 SID sound chip. Now we've finished another one, with
four
SIDs inside, and the old machine is pretty much left over.
So if anybody is interested in getting it best have a look over
HERE. All infos there, incl. a video of the synth playing a new
Jahtari tune, links to other great DIY projects and recommended
literature if you want to start building your own gear. |

Looks like one of the most amazing and longest-running radio shows
on the planet, "On The Wire" (read the full history HERE), is about
to vanish off the airwaves
soon, due to the latest BBC budget cuts.
This is sadly just one
more step in the ongoing process of dropping
independent-minded quality in favour of the mediocre commercial rest
and not only a
BBC problem, but a worldwide phenomenon.
The future of OTW is still uncertain at this point, but hopefully
the mission will continue via the internet. Until then you should
absolutely check out the COMPLETE (!) recordings of the last 27 (!!)
years, over at archive.org. And then drop some feedback to Steve
Barker and the whole
crew. |

There are two excellent (and very funny) interviews up on
Unitedreggae.com, one with Solo Banton and one with disrupt. Apart
from getting a few good laughs and some insights you can also have
a wee gander at some pics of the newly-built Jahtari studio, which
finally deserves the name.

We hope you entered twentytwelve as smoothly as we did, it should
be a good one. Lots of niceness is in the tube - as always -
including a new Jahtarian Dubbers compilation, which is up next.
We also got heavily into building hardware music gear, synths and
simple
FX units DIY-style over the last year, so there's a whole
new world
of sound just waiting to be unleashed. But more on that
later...
