Welcome To Dog Heart City

step into dog heart city!

Attention All Jahtarians!

To promote the release of Roger Robinsons new album we give you the chance to enter Dog Heart City for yourself and mash up those fat cat money men through the power of technology!

Wouldn’t you love a chance to stick it to ‘the man’?

Well now you can.

Let’s do it!

All you have to do is protect our man Roger Robinson from those bureaucratic attackers!

Wait, there’s more! – we’re running a competition until the 1st March – the owner of the highest score will receive a bundle of Dog Heart City goodies from Jahtari.

More details on the competiton and how to play below.

How To Play

We’ve made it super simple to get playing.

Just head over to dogheartcity.rogerrobinsononline.com – let the credits roll and hit play

PLAY DOG HEART CITY LISTEN TO DOG HEART CITY

The objective is to protect Roger from those men in suits described in the Dog Heart City Album.

They’re not going to make it easy!

Simply tap on an attacker to defeat him and keep Roger safe.

Multiple taps get more points.

Those suits are seriously aggressive though and it’ill take some serious finger tapping to keep them away otherwise they’ll do Roger some serious damage!

However there is hope!

With enough taps a heart will be displayed (see image below) – drag this to Roger and his energy will be replenished AND all suits in range destroyed!

HINT: using a touchscreen is key to a highscore!

When you’ve done the business submit your score and details and – if you’ve done well enough – you’ll be entered onto the highscore board and into the competition.

The Competition

Our competition runs up until 1st March

The highest 5 scores on that date win a prize.

Simply play the game and submit your details afterwards. You’ll be added to the Jahtari mailing list and notified if successful.

Don’t forget to share / tweet with your own networks and spread the word!

WaqWaq Kingdom

WAQWAQ KINGDOM

IN SHOP BOOKING

WaqWaq Kingdom is a Japanese tribal bass duo, consisting of Kiki Hitomi and Shigeru Ishihara. Both are originally from Japan, lived in the U.K. for over a decade and are now based in Leipzig and Berlin.

Their genre- and time bending sound is like a psychedelic Nabe hot pot: melting Japanese traditional style Minyo with Jamaican dancehall, footwork, dub, techno, tribal polyrhythms and Super Nintendo soundtracks.

The lyrics and visuals are drawing a deep influence from ancient Shinto mythology and the Japanese “Matsuri” festivals that honor the local gods, “Kami-sama”.

WaqWaq Kingdom’s hypnotic and shamanic live performances are an intense time warp experience that re-connect their animistic roots with the future of urban neon colors.

Shigeru Ishihara is mostly knows as breakcore-gameboy legend DJ Scotch Egg, but also for playing bass in Seefeel (Warp Records), the  Devilman project and Small But Hard Records.

Kiki Hitomi is the singer/songwriter from bass explorers King Midas Sound (Ninja Tune), Black Chow, the Japanese Dubstep noise duo Dokkebi Q and the NoinoNoinoNoino project. Her highly acclaimed solo debut album “Karma No Kusari” appeared on Jahtari in 2016.

NoinoNoinoNoino “8” tape out on Caoutchou Records

Watch out for Kiki Hitomi‘s side project NoinoNoinoNoino! Caoutchou Records just released their album “8” on a fantastic looking limited tape edition. If you’re into the dense atmopshere of 1960s Japanese New Wave Cinema and movies like “Suna No Onna / Woman Of The Dunes” the post apycalyptic dubs on this haunting cassette are for you. Some ideas in there later found their way into songs on Kiki Hitomi’s LP “Karma No Kusari“, so listen closely!

Lee Perry vs. Jahtari 7″ on On U Sound

Lee Perry vs. Jahtari 7″ on On U Sound

A Jahtari 7″ with Lee Perry and Adrian Sherwood, out on On U Sound, mastered & cut by Dubplates & Mastering, distributed by Warp… well, we couldn’t be more honored and happier with the result: the two tripped out Rootah and disrupt versions are sounding as tuff as they should.

It appeared on On U sound as a limited Black Friday 2016 edition end of last year, and a few copies of this very hard-to-find wax made it over to our Jahtari shop. So best head quickly over HERE.

After <ahem> 12 years we’ve finally managed to upgrade our Jahtari.org website to something that can be lazily operated with one thumb on a smartphone. The old 8bit-part of the website with all the net releases can still be explored under ARCHIVE, so no worries. A line of dope records is already lining up for 2017, stay tuned.

ASHER SENATOR

Asher Senator (b. Peter St Aubyn) grew up in Clapham, South London. He started deejaying at the age of 14 at house parties and then on the Buchanan Sound System along with his sparring partner Smiley Culture. Together they went on to deejay on sounds such as Black Harmony and Frontline before joining Coxsone Outernational and most famously Saxon Studio International in the early to mid 80’s.

Asher Senators inspiration as a deejay came from deejays such as Brigadier Jerry and Nicodemus who they often heard through sound tapes. His first single was “Abbreviation Qualification” b/w “Fast Style Origination” released on Fashion in 1984. It was voiced and mixed at the A-Class Dub Studio that was located under Dub Vendor at Lavender Hill. “Fast Style Origination” told the tale of the Fast Chat style originated by fellow Saxon deejay Peter King.

He then featured on the first LP release from Fashion, a various artists collection of English deejays. This featured “Fast Style Origination” and a split effort with Smiley Culture called “It’s Coming Down”. The latter being the only example on vinyl of the two sparring with each other.

In 1985 he would headline in the first part of a clash series with deejays from Jamaica and England contesting each other. The first volume of JA To UK Clash featured Asher and Johnny Ringo. Some more singles for Fashion followed, and in 1986 Ashers dropped his first and only solo album, Born To Chat.

In the late 80’s Asher set up his own label Senator Records where he would release his own productions featuring himself, Smiley Culture, Tippa Irie and Joseph Cotton. During the 90’s he featured on some various projects – many non-reggae.

Later on Asher would focus on community politics by setting up C.O.D.E. 7 Music, an organization created to help youths trying to get in to the music and drama industry.
