The master of the magnetic scrolls is back at the boombox with his second Jahtari EP, once again exploring the more rugged corners of the dub universe. On Side A ‘Where Is The Time’ creates a rhythmical space-time paradoxon straight away, with harmonies that stream right off a dysfunct flux capacitor module. Next up ‘Persian Pulse Width’ switches the tape heads into heavy current mode, driving a battery of damaged 8-bit-chips into a thermal meltdown.

Side B contains two special cuts of older Tapes gems: a 12″ extended dub mix of Vernon Maytone’s ‘Old Pan Sound’ that originally came out on a now hard to find 7″ on Tape’s Selah Wadadda label. And an ultra-heavy, extra-crackling cassette mix of the ghostly ‘Pipe Cleaner’ with haunting flutes by Diggory Kenrick that recently appeared as limited 7 on Meeuw Muzak. Serious voltage baked on tape here!

“Dancehall Hobby EP”

JTR12

Deadly disc charged with raw sound system vibes by the man called Mr. Williamz on a bunch of heavyweight Maffi riddims, coming straight from the Copenhagen underground. With scorchers like “Sit Down Steady”, the must-have “Where The Man Come From” and the anthem “Dancehall Hobby” it becomes clear very quickly that this man’s favourite hobby ain’t stamp collecting…

To give it a nice sound-system-tape feel the tunes have been faithfully run to cassette and back, Tapes dubbed up the Kriminel Riddim live, the bassline in the Hobby Riddim is by Pupajim and disrupt rolled it all up into a big one in the end.

Like the “Tann Up Solid EP” this one also comes with a masterpiece of a cover from Ellen G. / MyLord – a genius tribute to the veterans of sound system culture! Boomshot record – not to be missed!

The Maffi helicopter finally takes off again for it’s next mission, this time with a Rub-A-Dub specialist team on board who are about to infiltrate unsuspecting dancefloors worldwide. Sensi expert Kenny Knots parachutes out first with a boom tune called “Herb From Grow” in his backpack, while special agent Speng Bond – with the license fi toast – is keeping up the vibes in the flying command center with “Tann Up Solid”. The Ninja MC team Rub-A-Dub Market, who usually run tings and sound system special ops code- named “Part2Style” down in Tokyo / Japan, are at the controls of the B-side with their track “Fever”.

Inside the suitcase on the backseat is the “Robotron Riddim”, the dub version of Ranking Levy‘s “Mad Man Syle” (from “Jahtarian Dubbers Vol. 3“). Three murdah Rub-A-Dub cuts on some rare, early Maffi riddims plus one Dub – for your ears only! All produced and dubbed up by disrupt in the Jahtari bunker, with a bomb of a cover from the Superhero team Ellen G. / MyLord, who also did the masterpiece sleeve for Mr. Willamz’Dancehall Hobby EP“.

Solo Banton
“Music Addict EP”

JTR10
release date: 21.09.2011
12″ vinyl, digital

VINYL SOLD OUT!
BUY DIGITAL

After three deadly discs in our Maffi series Solo Banton is back with a vengeance and a full EP, flinging big tunes, the mic and nunchuks alike with the ease of a Shaolin master that would even have made Mr. Miyagi proud.

Starting the ride, “Music Addict” is setting fire to dancefloors with an almost pyromaniac delight while still nicing up the area big time. Solo continues to spin a yarn about your friendly neighbourhood robbers in “Put It Back”, his belt buckle slashing out just as hard as the beats. Witness an epic martial arts battle in “Kung Fu Master”, when ‘Black Belt’ Banton enters the dojo, riding the knucklebuster basslines crane style and shows Jet Li how it should be done. Keeping up the fighting spirit and finishing the trip is “One Of The Greatest”, written during and about the people’s struggle for freedom in the ‘Arab spring‘ earlier this year.

All tracks have been produced by disrupt, who fills in the gaps with “Arcade Addict” and “Last Blade” to guarantee an extra-smooth overall flow of the matter.

Extra-breathtaking cover by Ellen G from MyLordSound.

After the (now hard to find) “I Am A Robot“- Maffi-7inch from 2010 busybody Pupajim finally returns to our favourite brew of simple digital riddims with two large and indestructable dancehall anthems, “Double Lock” and “Trouble Again”.

Usually a highly collectible series of 7inches, this is the first ever Maffi-12″ (!), coming – in true Firehouse style – with some rather riveting and righteously ruckus-causing dubs by disrupt.

BLACK CHOW
“Wonderland EP”

JTR08
release date: 30.03.2011
12″ vinyl, digital

VINYL SOLD OUT!

Spine crunching and synapse scorching 12″-EP by Black Chow, the not-from-this- planet side project of Kevin “The Bug” Martin (King Midas, Techno Animal) and Kiki Hitomi (King Midas, Dokkebi Q), extending the intense echo-dripping vibe of their killer track “Wonderland” from the compilation “Jahtarian Dubbers Vol. 2” into a whole EP.

Following the haunting Japanese original on side A is Pupajim‘s “Signs” with its tsunami-powered vocal style, turning the riddim into something that can only be described as a “bass opera” – utterly unique, totally addictive and absolutely unheard of so far. A deadly and stripped-to-the-bone dub version is on A3.

“Danger” on side B certainly lives up to the title. Casio driven 8-bit loops run through an echo chamber on a sonic warfare weapons testing range, with Kiki Hitomi on the spaceship intercom. The dub version will definitely create a black hole in your neighbourhood. Bass music straight from the bomb shelter on Mars.

The 12″ comes with amazing artwork by Kiki Hitomi!

After Afrikan Simba’s “Alternative Power” (from the “Jahtarian Dubbers Vol. 1” comp) has been in heavy circulation around the globe since long this deep 12″ is certainly one of the most awaited Jahtari releases ever.

Always floor faves during dances, Simba’s unique, powerful vibe and strong spiritual forcefield are pushing these epic tracks to the red area on the dubness scale while Rootah’s voltage-drenched production is exploring the remote corners of vast reverb landscapes and oversized scoobs alike. Better galvanize your turntables quickly, for this wax comes in extra-heavy!

“Elders EP”

JTR02

12″ vinyl, digital

VINYL SOLD OUT!

Finnish sonic explorers The Clouds, whose timeless tracks like “Shallow” were roaming the Dubstep world in 2008, are delivering their heavy “Elders” cut with Jahtari. Based on a haunting, down-pitched vocal acapella of dancehall legend Cocoa-Tea this wicked riddim comes with a killah bassline that will be a challenge to every heavy duty sound system. Crazy sample action going down in the Ras Amerlock Dub version on A2.

The tune is getting a completely new drift on B1, when Jahtari roots master Rootah is heating up his analogue tubes to shoot the riddim into a new dimension. Finishing this wax is an ultra-kicking Dubstep refix by Wadadda (Police In Helicopter, MG77) which will easily blow off the roof of every dancefloor.
